Adele Lerman Janow, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and active member of communities in both New York and Florida, passed away quietly on November 3, 2023, at the age of 82. With family by her side, she lost her brave battle with pancreatic cancer. Her life was marked by an unwavering commitment to her family, friends, and Jewish community involvement.

Adele is survived by her loving husband of almost 60 years, Stanley, her son David, her daughter Lori, and her cherished grandsons Hudson and Ty, whom she adored. Her family was so important to her, and her influence will forever shape their lives.

Adele was born on August 22, 1941, in Medford, Massachusetts. Her lifelong pursuit of knowledge began at Emerson College, where she completed her undergraduate degree, igniting a passion for learning and personal growth that would define her life. She continued her academic journey with a master's degree from New York University (NYU) and ultimately earned a Juris Doctor degree from Pace University. Adele's gratitude and commitment was evidenced by her serving as the president of the Pace University Alumni Association.

Professionally, Adele was a speech and language teacher who dedicated her skills and compassion to emotionally and physically challenged children, working at Pleasantville and Edenwald schools. She made a meaningful impact on the lives of countless students, and her legacy lives on in their successes.

In addition to her teaching career, Adele was a business owner and an accomplished mediator, owning Citadel International. Her remarkable ability to balance her business pursuits with her passion for helping families in crisis as a divorce mediator was a testament to her boundless energy and commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of others.

Adele was an active member of her community, participating in various charitable organizations and religious institutions. She contributed her time and resources to Hadassah and was a member of the Westchester Reform Temple in Scarsdale, New York, as well as the Riverdale Temple in Riverdale, New York. Her involvement extended beyond her faith, as she ran a bowling league, fostering camaraderie and a sense of community among friends.

Adele's funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 8th, at 12:00 PM ET with graveside services at the South Florida Jewish Cemetery, located at 6081 S. Congress Ave, Lake Worth, FL 33462. Shiva will take place at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Adam Haas, where family and friends can gather to share stories and remember the beautiful life Adele lived.
