Dr. Alvin Shapiro

"SHAPIRO, Alvin, age 93, passed away on November 3, 2023, beloved son of Edward and Sophie Shapiro, and Jeanette (Sams) Shapiro, devoted husband of 53 years to Sharon Shapiro, father of five sons, Michael (Dina), Benjamin (Diane), Jon (D'Shon), Joshua (Heather), and Nathaniel (Tabby), and caring grandfather of nine grandchildren, Brandon, Jaden, Samuel, Aviel, Ethan, Joseph, Sophie, Jacob, and Grey.  Originally from Queens, New York, Alvin graduated from Brooklyn Polly Tech and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.  After his service, General Electric brought Alvin to Cincinnati, where he eventually earned a Ph.D. and taught nuclear engineering at the University of Cincinnati for his entire career, retiring in 1998.  He and Sharon then relocated to Delray Beach, FL, where they enjoyed a life together filled with much golf, dining out, and entertaining their children and grandchildren while on vacation.  After overcoming many challenges in his early life, Alvin lived a full and happy life, with no regrets.  There will be a gravesite burial service at Rest Haven Memorial Park, 10209 Plainfield Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45241 on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at noon.
