Annette Ruth Schear was born on July 25th, 1933, to Meyer and Dorothy Nyman.  She grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey with her older siblings, Genie and Harold. She met the love of her life, Herman "Hy" Schear, and married in 1956 before welcoming son, Gary, who was raised in Merrick, New York.  Annette was a trailblazer of her time who represented women in the workforce looking to make an impact from a young age.  She felt her pay was unfair compared to her male counterparts and that led her to taking her own path as a serial entrepreneur.

Annette and Herman started A&H toy, and after he passed, Annette and her son, Gary, would later open MJZ (named after her grandchildren, Matthew, Zachary, and Jacob). A&H and MJZ were both one of the largest wholesalers of school supplies and toys in the Northeast for close to three decades.  She would eventually retire in Plainview, New York and then move down to Delray Beach, Florida.

Everyone will remember her for her famous holiday brisket and her "Davos" pancakes. She made them in her country home in Woodbridge, New York.  Her grandchildren and their friends always reminisce about her legendary pancakes. She loved to travel and play Mahjong with friends.  Annette was a talented knitter and made sweaters for everyone she loved, including all 4 of her great-grandchildren, Leo, Ellie, Emma, and Avery.  Annette took great pride in her granddaughters-in-law, Christina and Wendy.

She shared her famous brisket recipe with Christina to keep holiday traditions alive, and Wendy and GG (the name Annette gave herself when she became a great grandma), would talk on the phone all the time up until her final days.  Finally, you couldn't bring up anything with Annette without her sharing an incredible memory of her late husband, Hy. Their love was something to be admired by all who knew them.
