Florence (Flo) Hecht, 94, passed away on January 22, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and a true friend. Florence grew up in Bronx, New York with her sister Ruthie and widowed mother Yetta Wollner. Her early experience working at her uncle's Gross' dairy restaurant in Manhattan helped hone her skills to enable her to become a successful business owner in years to come.

Flo met her husband of 62 years, Irving Hecht, back in the day - up in the Catskill Mountains. Irving was intrigued by Flo from the start. True to her feisty and fearless nature, she was known to have even challenged the Air Force cadets visiting the resort to a game of ping pong. She fancied one handsome player, named Irv, whom she would eventually marry in 1953. Together they would embark on a successful commercial/storefront glass business in Brooklyn, New York. They raised their two daughters in Queens, New York for 11 years before moving to their home on Long Island.

She provided loving support to her close-knit family and would spend part of the year upstate in New York to remain close to her daughters. She and her husband eventually moved down to Boynton Beach, Florida which evolved into their permanent residence. They both loved Florida and the carefree lifestyle it afforded.

Strength and compassion were her best attributes and earned her respect from all. In addition, she competently assumed the title of "Florence Nightingale" due to her vital role as the primary caretaker in managing her mother's and sister's health, as well as her late husband's health issues. Smart and savvy, she kept busy by keeping tabs on her stock market portfolio, antiquing, attending auctions, running tag sales, and of course, frequenting the casinos. Florence is survived by her daughters Debra Hecht and Sharon Hecht-Caplan, her grandchildren Dan and Sarah Caplan, and Dan's new wife Jacquelyn. Florence will continue to be greatly missed by her family and friends and her memory will forever be a blessing.

A Chapel service for Florence will be held on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. at Rubin Memorial Chapel - 7340 Boynton Beach Blvd., Boynton Beach, FL 33437
