Herbert M Kanter, 99 passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday January 5, 2023, in Boca Raton, FL. He was the first born to Saul and Faye Kanter on May 24, 1923. Herb was born in Chicago and moved to Saginaw Michigan where he was raised with his younger brother, Arnold. After graduating high school, he attended General Motors technical school before enlisting in the Army Air Force on December 12, 1942, where he was a radar specialist in WW2. He was engaged to the love of his life Louise "Honey Lou" Fischman on March 17, 1946, then married on September 5 ^th of the same year. Herb became an EVP for Jim Beam Distilling Company, and later a Board Director for Bell's Scotch Whiskey of Scotland, he retired at age 62. Herb and Honey Lou lived and raised their children in Wilmette, Illinois then moved full time to Boca Raton, Florida in 1986 being the first president of Stonebridge Country Club. Herbert was "a man's man." In his 37 years of retirement, he enjoyed playing competitive golf, an afternoon game of gin rummy, socializing with friends and family, and most of all spending 69 years with his soul mate Honey Lou. He is survived by two children, Stuart, Jerry (Lynn), two grandchildren Michael and Kristin, and two great grandchildren Luke and Madeline. He was preceded in death by his wife Louise "Honey Lou" on March 21, 2015.
