Jerry Schnur

July 10, 1929 - June 2, 2024. Jerry was born in the Bronx, N.Y. to Charles and Sarah Schnur. He married Florine in 1947. They were married for 71 years until her passing in 2019.

Jerry entered the military service in 1945. He served in the U.S. Merchant Marine and the Coast Guard. He obtained the rank of Commander in the USCG Auxiliary and remained a member for over 40 years.

Jerry was a licensed USCG passenger ship captain. Jerry was Commander of Post 440 Jewish War Veterans in Delray Beach, FL for approx. 15 years.  He was also Chancellor Commander of Atlas Lodge Knights of Pythias in NY.

Jerry was an expert mechanic, specializing in small craft maritime equipment.  He spent many years in the garment industry in NY, repairing various machinery. He was a distributor of Crosman air rifles and pistols. He manufactured his own line of saltwater fishing equipment.  Jerry was an exceptionally caring and loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.

Jerry is survived by Bruce Schnur (son), Renee (Donald) Evans (daughter), Craig and Daniel (grandchildren) Jordan and Blake (great grandchildren), Leon (Lynn) Schnur, brother.  But, most of all he was a Mensch.  Rest in peace Yussel.  We will dearly miss you.
