In Loving Memory of Joan Mandel

A Life Full of Love and Devotion

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing Joan Mandel, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left us on June 19, at the age of 87.  She was surrounded by love, comfort, and the presence of her family during her final moments.

Joan was born March 20,1938 in the Bronx to the late Meyer and Rose Schuffman. Family was the cornerstone of Joan's life.  She is survived by her husband Harvey, with whom she shared 66 years of devotion and partnership.  Her children and grandchildren meant the world to Joan, and she will be forever missed by her daughter Madene, son Lloyd (Dina Marcus) and beautiful grandchildren Matt, Jordan and Lexi Mandel.   Joan was predeceased by her sister, Arlene Simon (2023) and son in law Robert Schmitt (2015)

Joan was a favorite teacher of so many in North Brunswick, NJ until she retired in 1985 to move to Florida.  She then enjoyed a second successful career as a healthcare administrator and found her passion as an artist, painting over 100 pieces that are cherished in her family's homes.

She was a loving and caring person, always thinking of others first.  She had the unique gift of making each person feel as though they were the most important person in the room.  Joan was widely known for her kindness and generosity. She had an extraordinary talent for creating connections with people, whether through her warm smile or her willingness to lend a helping hand. Her acts of kindness extended beyond her immediate circles, touching the lives of friends, neighbors, and even strangers.

The world is a lesser place without Joan, but her spirit lives on in the lessons she taught, the memories she left, and the love she gave so freely. Her legacy is one of unconditional love, resilience, and grace—qualities that will continue to inspire and guide all who had the privilege of knowing her.

A funeral will be held Monday, June 23 at 12:00 noon at Rubin Memorial Chapel in Boynton Beach.   In lieu of shiva calls, there will be a memorial service on Tuesday, June 24 at 1:00 PM in the auditorium at Five Star Premier Residences in Boca Raton.   Family and friends are invited to gather to honor her memory, share stories, and pay tribute to her unforgettable journey.
