John Koenig passed away on April 15, 2023, just shy of his ninety-fourth birthday. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Cynthia Koenig; son of Emerich and Livia Koenig; proud father of Shari Miller, Stewart and Gary Koenig, and dear father-in-law to Mark Miller, Hope Koenig, and Nohora Koenig; grandfather to Aubrey and Jason Koenig, Ben and Jake Miller, Lauren and Eric Koenig, and Luciana Koenig; great-grandfather to Rhea, Noa, Eden, and Oliver Koenig, and great-grandfather-to-be to baby girl Miller and baby girl Koenig.

A holocaust survivor, a proud service member, a world-traveler, a sailor, a businessman, a true friend and kind man, John drank deeply from the goblet of life. He will be greatly missed by all who had the true pleasure of knowing him.

John was passionate about sharing his story and keeping the memory of the Holocaust alive. Donations in his honor can be made to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC.
