Kurt Bass, 92, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2025, in Boynton Beach, Florida, due to complications from Parkinson's Disease.

Kurt is survived by his loving sons, Eric and Bobby Bass; his cherished grandchildren, Aimee, Benjamin, Sophia, and Nathan; and his devoted sister-in-law, Ellie Signer. He is also mourned by extended family and friends who will forever remember his resilience and charm.

Kurt was born on October 24, 1932, in Vienna, Austria, to Otto Bass and Rosa Kluger Bass. His childhood in Vienna was tragically cut short in 1938 when Nazi Germany annexed Austria, marking the beginning of a harrowing journey for Kurt and his family. After being denied visas to emigrate to the UK as a family, they fled to Brussels, Belgium, where they lived in a refugee camp. In 1940, following the German invasion of Belgium, Kurt was placed in a boys' orphanage run by Catholic nuns, alongside his close friend Willie, to evade capture.

After the defeat of Germany, Kurt was reunited with his parents in Brussels. They later found sponsorship and emigrated to the United States, settling in the Bronx, NY. Shortly after, Kurt was drafted into the U.S. Army and stationed in Tokyo, where his fluency in multiple languages earned him a position as an interpreter for a General. Upon his honorable discharge, Kurt returned to the Bronx and embarked on a long and successful career in the automobile industry. He began by selling imported cars, igniting a lifelong passion for fast cars.

Kurt was a man of many loves—his family, fine food, and automobiles—but above all, he valued survival. His experiences during the Holocaust shaped his fiercely pragmatic approach to life, living each day with grace and determination. He exemplified the term "survivor," navigating life's challenges with resilience and thriving into his 90s.

Kurt shared 59 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Marilyn, who passed away in 2019. Together, they graced every family dance floor with their elegance, waltzing effortlessly as one and entertaining all who watched.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 20, at 10 a.m. at Rubin Memorial, located at 7340 Boynton Beach Blvd., Boynton Beach, Florida. The family will be sitting Shiva at Kurt's home on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.
