Lawrence G. Friedman, who was a proud member of the Gabila's Knish family, died Tuesday in West Palm Beach, Florida at age 77.  He passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital after a stay at Lourdes Noreen McKeen for multiple health issues.  He was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and joined Gabila's after his marriage to Eileen Levy where they raised two sons, Steven and Brett in the Mill Basin neighborhood.  He retired from Gabila's in 2007.

In the Spring of 1982, Mr. Friedman was responsible for subduing a bank robber resulting in a citation given to him by the New York Police Department.  He was also a long-time member of Cornerstone Lodge #178.

He was known among friends for his outsized personality and sense of humor.  He took pride in the accomplishments of his children and was a loving and doting grandfather to his six grandchildren.  He is survived by wife Eileen, and sons Steven and Brett, their wives Michele (Wiener) and Mercedes (Martinez) and grandchildren Zachary, Alec, Madeline, Adrean, Marcos, and Sophia.
