Leo Sloane, born in New York City on February 4, 1930, the youngest son of Esther and Nathan Sloane, passed away in Deerfield Beach, Florida, on January 3, 2026. He was a lifelong athlete (basketball, paddleball, bowling), served proudly as a US Marine, and for many years had success in the sporting goods business.

Leo married Marion Ray Lowy, also of New York City, on June 17, 1951, and they raised three children together in Forest Hills, Queens, and Syosset, Long Island. While still in New York, he began to work in the needlepoint business she owned, which was later relocated to Florida. After Marion's passing in 2002, Leo continued to work in the store (with his daughter Laurie) until just a few months before his death at age 95.

He had a great sense of humor, loved all kinds of theater, especially Gilbert and Sullivan, and in his later years enjoyed playing blackjack. He had a persistent artistic/craftsman streak, including making stained-glass pieces, refinishing furniture, choosing the perfect colors for needlepoint, and learning to hand-cane chairs.

Leo is survived by his daughters, Merryl Sloane (charley Dejolie) and Laurie Chiavari (Rick), and his son, David Sloane (Laurie); grandchildren Brett Chiavari (Lauren), Kelsey Casa (Cody), Benjamin, and Noah; and great-grandchildren Bryson, Stella, Sloane, Grace, Jackson, and Quinn.
