BEAUTIFUL INSIDE AND OUT

Marléne Stanton (née Rosenfeld) of Delray Beach, Florida, died on February 23rd, 2024 at the age of 87. She was born on June 12, 1936 in Brooklyn, New York to her loving parents Julian and Mildred Rosenfeld. Marléne was known as a kind, loving person who treasured family and friends. She remained close with not only college friends, but even some that go back to grade school days. Marléne was known in her community for being an active and athletic person, going from a morning tennis game to her numerous other activities, always on the go.

Marléne is survived by her daughter, Marcia, of Branchburg, New Jersey, her son, Brad, of Colorado, her cat Spice, and her daughter Judith  and grandchildren Talya and Mira of Alameda, California.

Marléne received a Bachelor of Arts / Psychology degree from Barnard College in 1957, a Master of Education / Reading degree from University of Virginia in 1961 and went back to school to earn a Master of Arts in Instruction and Curriculum / ESL from Kean University in 1993. She was a member of PHI DELTA KAPPA Society and PHI KAPPA PHI Society.

During her career, Marléne worked as a classroom teacher in NY, VA, and NJ, as a reading coordinator and instructor in NJ, and as an ESL instructor at Union County college. She was an Adjunct Professor at the Union County College Industry-Business Institute teaching ESL in specialized, on-site courses. She was a tutor at Kean College, while also Assistant Director of the Writing Emphasis Program there. She entered the world of business for a while, working as an Operations Training Coordinator for a bank, as a placement counselor, and as an underwriter. But her love of teaching called, and she returned to the teaching field after earning another degree to specialize in a new area.

Marléne and her family belonged to Temple Shalom in Plainfield, NJ, where she was very active. She always participated in and supported many causes, including Hadassah, and was an avid animal rights activist. She enjoyed hobbies such as playing piano and tennis, and spending time with her family and her fur children. Nothing was more important to her than family, and her love was always apparent. She also greatly enjoyed volunteering at her local pet shelter, as well as with many other organizations.

A chapel service will be held at Rubin Memorial Chapel in Boynton Beach, Florida on Wednesday, February 28th at 11 am. A graveside service will be held in New Jersey on Sunday, March 3rd at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge at 11 am.
