Martin Karasick Obituary

With profound sadness we announce the passing of Mr. Martin (Marty) Karasick, husband, father, grandfather, patriot, community leader and humanitarian.

Marty, son of the late Harry Karasick and Henrietta Lassar, was born on October 21, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY. He graduated from James Madison High School, enjoying a range of activities and achievements, including the varsity football team, and New York City's esteemed All City Choir. He then attended Long Island University Brooklyn where he earned his undergraduate degree in Accounting.

Following, he received a Master's in Business Administration from Farleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. Additionally, he earned his Certified Public Accountant license. Marty, who served in the Army from 1961-1963, earned the rank of Specialist E-4 and was a proud United States patriot.

Marty was united in holy matrimony to Joan Francine Wiener on May 7, 1967. Together they experienced 54 years of loving marriage, supporting each other through all facets of life. They traveled, and enjoyed the performing arts, including Broadway shows, concerts and movies. Marty was also a faithful Jets season ticket holder, and one of their most loyal fans.

Marty spent the majority of his career employed by Pathmark (Supermarkets) in Woodbridge, NJ as their General Auditor, where he managed a dedicated team of employees. Following his retirement, he served as the Deputy Mayor of Marlboro (NJ), and was a Trustee of the Marlboro Township Board of Education. He was an active member of various synagogues and community associations.

He was the beloved father of daughter Ellyn (Karasick) Schindler and her husband Michael Schindler of Nazareth, PA; daughter Cindy (Karasick) Sherman and her husband Marc Sherman of Long Beach, CA, and proud and loving grandfather to Hannah, Andrew, Harrison and Emilia.

We welcome contributions in memory of Marty Karasick to the American Heart Association, the Cleveland Clinic Foundation (Cardiovascular Medicine Department Fund), and American Jewish World Service.
