Roberta Nelson, August 12, 1947- July 8, 2023

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Roberta Nelson, who, physically left the world on July 8, 2023. She was a loving mother, nana, sister, aunt, dear friend to many, and her faith in G-d helped her pass peacefully and pain-free.

Roberta is survived by her daughter, Mindy Owens, grandson, John Ross Owens, former son-in-law, John Owens(Abbe Roth), sister-in-law, Bobbi Littman. Roberta was pre-deceased by her parents, Charles and Frieda Littman, her brother, Aaron, Littman, sister, Flora Lee Cohen, and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Roberta was born in Huntington, Long Island, New York, on August 12, 1947. Growing up in Huntington is where the importance of family was instilled in her. She was the youngest sibling (by many years) to her sister and brother; however, they were very close. She always told stories about growing up in Huntington, and how her many aunts, uncles, cousins, and her immediate family spent so much time together. They had many fond memories growing up.

In her adult life, she moved to South Jersey, where she married, and raised her daughter Mindy. After her retirement, she moved to South Florida to join her daughter, and most importantly to be with her "#1 boy" John Ross. She left a lot of her best friends in New Jersey, (her bestie of over 50 years Georgeann Schrider), but met a million new ones in Florida. Roberta was always the life of the party with her sense of humor and vibrant personality. She was "a good time Charlie". What Roberta loved the most was spending time with her grandson, going out to eat with her friends, playing mah-jongg, going to her exercise classes, and going to shows.

Roberta will be missed for so many reasons by so many people. Everyone who has had the privilege to meet her, has a funny story or memory to share. She had the biggest heart, and generally cared about others, putting their needs above hers. She was adored by all.

A graveside service will be held at the South Florida Jewish Cemetery, Lake Worth, FL 33462 at 11:00 a.m.

Immediately following this service, guests are invited to the residence of Mindy Owens. The period of mourning will continue on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
