In Memory of Shelly Ratner
Shelly Ratner was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1931 to immigrant parents from Russia. He lived in Coney Island where his par ents owned a luncheonette. He graduated from NYU and then served in the army during the Korean War.

He was an avid sports fan. His favorite teams were the NY Giants foot ball team and the NY Rangers hockey team. He was in the stands with his college buddy David Heckelman, and saw Bobby Richardson hit his heroic 9th inning home run in the 1960 world series.

He met the love of his life Beverley in NYC and moved to Chicago for her. Shortly after the wed ding, he moved both of them back to Brooklyn. In 1966, they moved to the NJ suburbs (Paramus) to raise two daughters, Lauren and Michelle. Shelly cared about his family and friends above anything else.

He had a long and unprecedented career with what was at the time, a small company most people had never heard of - International Business Machines (IBM). Shelly sold large business comput ers long before anyone ever had one in their home to cus tomers all over the world.

He loved to travel, visited many countries around the world, and was always planning his next trip. Shelley and Bev rented in Hunters Run starting in 1994 for the tennis program and then bought in 1996. Shelly won several championships while playing competitive tennis at Hunter ' s Run. He also loved to play bridge as it is " the thinking person ' s game " in the men ' s card room.

Services will be held at Rubin Memorial Chapel located at 7340 Boynton Beach Blvd, Boynton Beach, FL on Monday, May 16 at 3:00 pm. Shiva will be at the Ratner residence 37 Windsor Drive on
Sunday May 15 and Monday May 16 starting at 4:00
